Examining and reviewing construction plans: Quantity surveyors are involved in studying construction plans and specifications. They assess the project requirements, understand the scope of work, and identify the necessary quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for the project.

Preparing quantity requirements: Quantity surveyors determine the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for the construction project. They calculate and estimate the necessary quantities accurately to facilitate procurement and cost management.

Cost estimation and control: Quantity surveyors are responsible for analyzing and managing the costs associated with a construction project. They evaluate material costs, labor costs, and other expenses to provide accurate cost estimates. Throughout the project, they monitor and control costs, ensuring that the project remains within budget.

Contract management: Quantity surveyors play a vital role in managing contracts. They review and negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They also administer contracts, handle variations, claims, and contractual disputes, and facilitate effective communication between parties involved in the project.
